We are a non profit organization with a mission to raise literacy awareness while inspiring and nurturing the love of reading across the Upstate of South Carolina.
The Open Book Project is a non profit organization with a literacy based initiative that was created as an effort to continue the important work of the Pickens County Literacy Association (PCLA). When the PCLA announced they were ceasing their work, Samantha Jones, President of The Open Book Project, made an announcement at her monthly book club meeting. From there, an Executive Committee and Board of Directors were established and the work of creating The Open Book Project began. A love of reading and a love of giving make up the core of the Open Book Project. Reading is fundamental to the success of everyone individually and collectively for our society. Bringing this effort to fruition and knowing that we will be helping groups and organizations across the upstate promote and fund their literacy efforts has been exciting and rewarding. We look forward to many years of ongoing outreach in Upstate communities surrounding Piedmont, Powdersville, Easley, Clemson, Anderson, Pickens, & Greenville.
